Energy Commission's Solar Equipment Lists

The inverter and energy storage system listing request forms and instructions were updated and posted on December 5, 2019. These updates reflect advanced functionalities and communication features, and will be reflected in the Grid Support Inverter List and Energy Storage System List starting January 2020.

Additionally, starting January 1, 2020, Energy Commission staff will no longer accept requests for listing utility interactive inverters that do not include grid support functions ("smart inverters"). A list of these utility interactive inverters will be archived and available on our website.

The Energy Commission updates the solar equipment lists three times a month, typically on the 1st, 11th, and 21st of the month, or the first business day thereafter.

For any questions regarding the equipment lists, please contact the Solar Equipment Call Center at SolarEquipment@energy.ca.gov or 916-654-4120.

All solar energy systems receiving ratepayer-based incentives in California must utilize equipment listed on these pages and maintained by the Energy Commission. The enactment of Senate Bill 1 (Murray) in 2006, directed the Energy Commission to establish eligibility criteria, conditions for incentives, and rating standards for projects applying for ratepayer-funded incentives for solar energy systems. The Energy Commission's Solar Equipment Lists include PV modules, inverters (including smart inverters), meters, battery and energy storage systems, and related equipment. Please note that equipment on the Energy Commission's lists have undergone tests to achieve minimal safety and performance standards. The Energy Commission and the State of California make no claim or warranty on the equipment and its safety, performance or durability. Anyone considering installing solar energy systems are encouraged to conduct their own research.
